Reservoir Surveys

Surveying a Reservoir

When the amendments to the Reservoirs Act 1975 came into play many owners and operators of past exempt reservoirs awaited the outcome. Previously, dammed or bunded reservoirs of less than 25,000 cubic metres capacity are exempt from the expensive provisions of this Act but proposals to reduce this figure to 10,000 cubic metres became law, many more people will be required to engage the services of a registered 'Panel Engineer.

Surveying and quantifing

Accordingly, Survey Operations had an increase in enquiries to accurately survey and quantify reservoir volumes which appear close to the expected 10,000 cubic metre limit. Our highly experienced team of surveyors and CAD personnel were able to cope with the increase in workload, as we have the largest dedicated inland hydrographic team in the UK, we didn’t have a problem.
